Grand Tree Plantation Drive Successfully Organised by Prakruti Mitra Mandal ๐ณ
Prakruti Mitra Mandal, Dahod, in collaboration with Smart City Dahod and Dahod Nagarpalika, successfully organised a grand Tree Plantation Drive along the main entrance road of Dahod city, from Kendriya Vidyalaya to Desaivada on Godhra Road.
As part of this green initiative, plantation was systematically carried out at 53 pre-identified locations along the road. A variety of native tree species were planted along with protective tree guards. More than 100 nature enthusiasts, youth, children, women, and senior members enthusiastically participated in the programme.
Despite the light rain, the enthusiasm of the participants remained undiminished. Without worrying about mud, wet soil, or getting their clothes dirty, every participant personally planted trees and demonstrated a deep sense of love and responsibility towards nature. The day provided everyone with a truly meaningful and hands-on experience of connecting with the soil and the natural environment.
### Promoting Native Tree Species
Special emphasis was given to planting native species that are naturally suited to the climate and soil conditions of the Dahod region. The species included Shimalo, Rayan, Nagod, Mor Dhundhiyu, Mahudo, Kusum, Pangaro, Safed Kher, Kalam, Charoli, Matar Sing, Keelai, and several other locally suitable varieties.
Native trees are particularly valuable because they require relatively less maintenance and adapt well to local environmental conditions. They also contribute to rainwater conservation, provide food and shelter for local birds, butterflies and other wildlife, and strengthen the natural ecological balance of the region.
For example, the Keelai tree provides a suitable habitat for fireflies, supporting their breeding and helping preserve local biodiversity.
### A Commitment Towards a Greener Dahod
The plantation carried out today was not merely an eventโit was a firm commitment towards creating a greener, cleaner and more sustainable Dahod for future generations.
The message from the programme was simple yet powerful:
โPlanting a tree is only the beginning; nurturing it into a large, healthy tree is our true responsibility.โ
Let us all come together and make a commitment to plant and nurture at least one native tree for a greener and healthier Dahod.
